Cedartown Runway Closing/Change

Most of you who have been at 4A4 in the recent past have noticed all the dirt moving for the runway extension.  Most of the work to date has been on the approach end of RUNWAY 28. They are now starting to build up dirt on the approach end of RUNWAY 10 and are going to displace the threshold several hundred feet.

WHAT THIS MEANS:

The runway will be closed on Tuesday, October 30, 2019 while they erase all the old runway markings and paint the new runway threshold, numbers and chevrons for the displaced section.  It will reopen (we hope) the next day.  Given that they have to paint and it will be raining, we'll see.

HOW DOES THIS CHANGE WHAT I HAVE TO DO TO FLY:

You may still use the whole runway for takeoff, including the displaced section marked with chevrons, but you must land AFTER the runway start threshold markings that follow the chevrons.  This is to protect the workers at the end of the runway.  Moving the touchdown point further down the runway ensures you pass over the workers at a safe and legal altitude.  I'll post a picture once the work is completed.

The new runway start for RUNWAY 10 should be somewhere between the two existing ramps, and probably a bit closer to the mid-field ramp.  At sometime in the future, they will likely do something similar at the RUNWAY 28 end. This is temporary and will be undone once the entire project is completed.
