Woohoo

Mama gyro finally gonna get a ride !

Scott Essex
Thanks Y'all!

Yep finally, I just had to come to the realization that it was going to take too long to design and build a 2 place of my own, So other than getting off the money, it has been a very simple process. The kit has been well thought out and went together very well, and very quick. Alex and his team have really come up with a great product.  Of course I will be adding personal touches later, I am going to just get it ready to fly and start flying, when the weather is bad, I can tinker with small mods, I have plenty of ideas....I thought about going with the tundra tires, but I don't think it is necessary, just extra weight and drag. Mama wants fuschia graphics, Stay tuned!

Scott Essex
Umm,

The white bucket, yes....I had a slight fuel leak from the drain fitting, I have since repaired it. I had to remove the fitting and install a couple more wraps of thread tape, and tighten the clamp, --DONE-- You know, go back and double and triple check everything, I ordered some weather proof connectors to finish up the panel wiring, should be doing that this week while I wait on the FAA paperwork, have to install radio, antenna, etc.

New gyro

Congrats on the new gyro, I know you both will enjoy it and have a lot of fun with it. Can’t wait for a ride.

time..

Yep you will get done soon, seems as we get older the time goes by so much faster, that was one of my reasons for deciding on the Tango, I have been trying to find the time for the past 5 years to build a 2 place and have started and stopped a couple of times, I have had lofty goals and then life happens and other things take higher priority. Plus with maintaining the house/property, aging parents, Mary lost both Her parents in the last 3 years. I drive 2 hours a day commute, and I just don't feel like working another 3-4 hours every evening when I get home, plus I need to spend time on keeping my marriage  in tact by spending time with my wife occasionally. LOL.So I decided that building/buying something that was already designed, engineered, was going to save so much time in the long run, I just want to be able to fly and share it with the ones I care about, so hopefully I have made a good decision.

The other thing is that I am selling all the 1/2 finished projects and all the extra parts, I have been trying to simplify my life but I keep failing..but I am getting rid of stuff, the airplane, motorcycle that I have not ridden for the last few years, other stuff that I don't need, etc.

Keep up the good work on your gyro project,

Congrats...

Congratulations Scott on the new machine.  Looking forward to seeing you fly it!  And I have to say "Thank You" for moving to a 2 place... now I have a great machine to train and fly.  Let us know when you'll be at Cedartown with your gyro so we can all check it out.

Scott Essex
Thanks

Thanks Casey! Thank you for helping me move to a two place! I am glad the dominator has gone to a good home, I have a feeling that you will enjoy it as much as I did. I am hoping to bring it up there in about a month, I am waiting on the FAA paperwork, and doing some minor finishing on the gyro..

Tom Duncan
Congratulations

Looking awesome Scott!  Just curious does the intake box have a very thin foam outer covering?  Some of the first boxes had a foam that did not hold up and the foam was sucked into the engine.

Scott Essex
Yes

Yes Tom the intake box has the foam on it..

If I have a problem with it I will just get some foam air filter sheet from UNI and replace it.

Numbers

Got the numbers on...

Numbers

I can't see them!  You should have chosen a color that popped!  ;)

I like the hot pink!

Scott Essex
I need to put in a switch to

I need to put in a switch to turn them off!

The FAA regulations say to use contrasting colors, so.....

Nailed it!!  LOL.   I plan to do more graphics or something later after I get the hours flown off, I think the colors work well, Mary gets to pick the colors.

Engine runs and prop adjustment

I spent about an hour in the 100 degree temps, running the engine and adjusting the prop, a few more squawks, but getting closer. as much as I tried I still could not pull the truck.

Scott Essex
Wow!

Wow that's some horsepressure there!!

Scott Essex
Hour meter

May have found the problem with the hour meter....I ordered a 12 volt meter, I took the old one out and it was labeled AC....

Oh and here is a "Turbo"  pic for you...

Jon Carleton

Picky-Picky

You could have used that one.  All you have to do is swap out the leads for + and - about 60 times a second and it should work fine.  Might be a minor distraction to your flying, however.

Don't let Kurt see that turbo.  He starts to drool when you even say words that begin with "tur" like turnip or turnpike.

Airworthiness inspection

Today! Keep your fingers crossed...

Scott Essex
Passed!

No squawks, no redo's everything looked good to him. So now on to the next phase...

Oh and after He left I did cut off the electrical splices and soldered the wires where I was having issues with the air pressure sensors, so hopefully that takes care of that.

Congratulations Scott , hope to see you flying the Tango soon !

Scott Essex
It Flew!

It did fly! Took it up to Cedartown for test flights and shakedown, after a few setbacks (had a crank position sensor acting funny) and adjustments, seems to be flying really well,

looking forward to putting more time on it

It Flew...

Congratulations! At least now you know it can land on dirt so your grass strip will be a piece-of-cake.
